Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with Magyar Nemzeti newspaper that the rise in energy prices against the background of the Ukrainian conflict and sanctions against Russia cost the country's economy 10 billion euros.

According to the politician, last year Hungary imported energy resources worth 7 billion euros, and this year it had to pay 17 billion. He stressed that this is "a lot of money that is leaving the Hungarian economy today."

Orban noted that the price increase pushed the EU countries "to a dangerous situation."

Earlier, Orban said that Budapest supports Ukraine and at the same time shows interest in maintaining economic relations with Russia. "We look at these issues from the point of view of Hungarian, and not someone else's interests," the prime minister argued.
